Stop the Wrongful Foreclosure on Ciara's House by Invitation Homes, SunTrust Bank, and Homesafe
We, the undersigned, call upon Invitation Homes to address the grave injustice and violation of rights suffered by Ciara, a victim of wrongful foreclosure. We urge IH to take immediate action to rectify this situation and provide Ciara with the justice she deserves.
Ciara, a hardworking and responsible homeowner, found herself entangled in a nightmarish ordeal when her home was wrongfully foreclosed upon. Despite actively engaging in loss mitigation with SunTrust Bank, her home was unlawfully taken away from her. As a result, Ciara is now a tenant in her former home, enduring deplorable living conditions, bullying, harassment, and unjust self-help evictions by Invitation Homes, the current landlord.
Ciara's motivation for purchasing this house at the young age of 21 was to provide stability and a better future for herself and her sisters. She worked tirelessly to secure a home, aiming to lead by example and foster a sense of security that was lacking in their upbringing. However, all parties involved, including SunTrust Bank and the purchaser (Invitation Homes), have failed to uphold their responsibilities, leading to the theft of Ciara's home.
Throughout the entire process, Ciara was misled by both the bank and the purchaser, who failed to provide her with her rights and due diligence. This has caused immense emotional distress and financial hardship for Ciara, who has dedicated 14 years of her life to this home.
Therefore, we urge Invitation Homes to return Ciara's home to her immediately.
Additionally, we urge the Fulton County Court system to hold all responsible parties accountable for their actions and ensure appropriate legal consequences are imposed.
We also call for stricter regulations and oversight to prevent similar injustices from happening to other homeowners in the future, and for enhancement of customer-oriented practices within the Department of Consumer Affairs to ensure prompt and effective assistance to homeowners and tenants facing similar circumstances.
We firmly believe that all parties involved, including Invitation Homes, SunTrust Bank, and Homesafe, must be held accountable for their actions. Corporate, private-equity landlords like Invitation Homes and Blackstone now dominate the rental market, particularly in Atlanta. These huge investment firms treat housing as a commodity to be bought, sold, and speculated on rather than as a human right. As they purchase more property, longtime residents are displaced, residents are gentrified, and housing conditions worsen. Ciara's case is only one of many like it. If we want to prevent further displacement and gentrification, we must fight back against the injustice that Ciara is facing!
