🚨 We’re sounding the alarm! Georgia is under a HOUSING STATE OF EMERGENCY and the Georgia General Assembly must act! 🚨

Georgia law currently prohibits local governments from protecting tenants from increasing rents. Landlords in Georgia are permitted to terminate a tenancy at the end of a lease and increase the rent as they please. Corporate landlords are free to bundle up all the properties, collude with each other, price-fix, and raise rents to force legacy residents out of their communities. All while close to 1k evictions a week are carried out in Fulton County alone. Landlords, real estate speculators, and politicians work hard to keep laws on the books that keep us housing insecure. We must create a movement to fight back!

Housing Justice League will be holding a Housing State of Emergency Forum to kick off the new legislative session in the Georgia General Assembly. We will feature organizations, activists, tenants, legislators, and community in a conversation about the real state of housing in Georgia and what is to be done in order to stabilize costs and ensure dignity for all.
